Transmission Integration Senior Engineer

Role purpose:

This role will entail the Integration of Transmission systems and nodes as required by the build and change team to deliver the requirements of the business.




·         Responsible for troubleshooting and resolving any errors caused during configuration work and if necessary escalating any planning errors identified to Planning Department.

·         Responsible to comply with all Change Management process and adherence to Network LLDs during all configuration work.

·         Responsible for referencing Methods of Procedure and Cramer for IP addressing / circuit build information and updating Remedy with all outcomes on assigned work tasks.

·         Circuit creation for new RAN sites or upgrades

·         Ethernet build for Vodafone Business

·         Card expansions to existing Infinera MPLS nodes

·         Retire Ericsson Traffic Node and Hi-Cap microwave systems and remove from network management.

·         Influence network configuration directions and decisions to ensure network stability.

·    Experience with managing mega projects delivered across different location in the world with culture/time zone diversity.


Core Competencies


·         Minimum 12 years of deep experience in transmission networks & systems.

·         L3 NNI POC hardening / NNI Access Migrations combined with EMC Trunk migrations.

·         SIAE microwave, bandwidth increases, software upgrades, and creation of new services.

·         New Infinera MPLS node integrations & swapouts.

·         MPLS load balancing & traffic Migrations

·         Synchronisation scheme changes.

·         SDH path, creation, deactivations & deletions (MW Nokia and Ericsson (Marconi) platforms)

·     Nokia MPR/MSS synchronisation reconfigurations 


Must have technical/professional qualifications:


·      People management skill.  Capable of managing without direct authority.

·      In depth analytical skills, strong stakeholder management & customer focus up to C level.

·      Deliver results by creating “a can do” & goal oriented environment.

·      Ability to manage in a changing environment by displaying sound judgment while thinking laterally and innovatively 

·    Excellent oral & written communications skills.
