Role purpose:


Vodafone Shared Services is a key enabler to deliver Vodafone’s growth trajectory.  Over the next 2 years VSS will deliver £1bn savings to Vodafone. Across VSS we will employee 18,000+ employees across 6 locations.  To ensure we meet both the ambitious efficiency targets as well as the growth of the teams we have created the Service Excellence function.  The team will be responsible for ensuring we continue to deliver for our current customers and extend penetration further as well as drive innovation and efficiencies, creating a VSS  Service Excellence centre that is recognised as best in class.


Intelligent Automation (IA), is a business transformation journey which starts with Robotic Process Automation (RPA), and evolves all the way to cognitive, machine learning, intelligent chatbots, and artificial intelligence. The implementation of IA has become highly strategic to the Group, with the target of improving significantly the process quality, the customer experience, and the aim of delivering cost reduction typically in the range of 10 to 30%. The Digital & Automation team will drive IA as a transformational agent to shift the organization to new ways of working enabling the Group to become a data-driven intelligent enterprise.


The accountabilities of this role will be to

·         Work collaboratively with Vendors and business stakeholders, identifying needs and opportunities for Digital & Automation solutions & technologies (from RPA to machine learning to artificial intelligence).

  • Investigate, review and develop Digital & Automation solutions that are coming from: Industry trends, Local markets, Group functions and internal VSS plans and requirements.


·         Key contributor in driving innovation through our centre of excellence, acting as an incubator to test and deploy Automation solutions and knowhow.


·         Provide subject matter expertise in articulating best practices and potential new solutions.  



·         Support in packaging up best practices and new solutions into propositions that will add to VSS Digital Strategy and automation Portfolio.


·         Build and issue case studies / white papers to help market VSS Digital Strategy & propositions.


Key accountabilities

·         Support development of Automation propositions for functions in scope (RPA, AI, FinOps, COPS, Enterprise)

·         Establish appropriate relationships with partners / business stakeholders and leverages those relationships to identify new solutions that can be tested and piloted with view to scale and add to VSS Digital Strategy & Automation portfolio.

·         Provide subject matter knowledge and know how in Automation technology’s.

·         Provide support in productising / preparing material on new Digital and Automation capabilities for Service marketing.

·         Identify and blueprint/publish best practices for Digital Strategy  & Automation


Key performance indicators

·         Deliver VSS targets through automation & digital tools

·         Support functions to deliver targets through productisation, and development of Digital propositions



Core competencies, knowledge and experience

·         Direct experience and Knowledge of Automation technology’s

  • Strong and collaborative team player with  excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

·         Comfortable with operating in a multi-dimensional, complex operating model, deals well with tight & sudden deadlines.


Must have technical / professional qualifications:

·         Graduate or equivalent. MBA preferable


·         A strong understanding of the technical aspects of digital & Automation platforms and solutions.
